Look For An FCC Ruling on Comcast…
Monday, July, 28, 2008 by Mel Phillips.
Now that their work on the XM-Sirius merger is done, the FCC will rule on Comcast this week. Personally I hope they come down hard on Comcast. What’s my beef with Comcast? Ask a few of my subscribers and they’ll tell you how my daily post is being blocked from getting through to them despite all their complaints to Comcast. I even interceded for them but never got a response. I wound up dropping their names from my mailing list. I have never had a problem with any other carrier except Comcast. Even with all this heat on them, the blockage continues…
The Wall Street Journal confirms that an FCC ruling is due this week in what they call, “a victory for consumer groups and high-tech companies that have fought to keep Web traffic free from interference.” They also add that the FCC will rule that Comcast violated federal policy by deliberately preventing some customers from sharing videos online which the cable giant defended as a prevention from overburdening its network. Then there’s the blocking and slowing of e-mail traffic. FCC Chairman Kevin Martin says all consumers must have “unfettered access to the Internet.” Evidentally Comcast didn’t get the message…
The FCC coming down on Comcast is good news and more than welcome. It’s especially good news for those who have had problems. I think I’ll share it with them personally. Oh wait, I can’t do that. Their e-mail is blocked by Comcast…
