A new Rasmussen Report shows Radio is still the top choice for those who listen to music. By a margin of 17%, radio leads the number two source - CD’s, 42% to 25%. The survey, conducted at the end of August sampled 1,830 music listeners - a sizable number. The remaining 33% of the music sources were no surprise…
MP3’s followed with 14%, satellite radio 9%, computer listening only accounted for 8%, listening to a tape deck was a minuscule 1% and turntables didn’t even register that high. Police radio had more listeners. Downloading results were surprising and at times comical…
Of those surveyed only 30% download music while 69% never download. Of those that download music 90% do not subscribe to a music service. Here’s the comical part - only 3% admit to downloading illegally and here’s more comedy - 26% aren’t sure if they’re downloading legally or illegally. A word to those on the fence, if you’re not paying for it, it’s probably not legal. And apparently the economy has affected concerts - one of the least popular summer activities according to the report…

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s IBS Student Radio Network by Backbone (IBS-SRN) launches the first live music festival, IBS-Palooza, September 19 -21 over multiple Internet stations on the Apple Mac-based IBS-SRN.
