In two separate yet related advisories, both Borrell Associates and BIA’s The Kelsey Group are showing huge growth in Web Ad business. In a new Borrell survey, radio stations had another double-digit growth year with local Web revenue jumping from $189 million in 2007 to $220 million this year. That’s an increase of 16.4 (%) percent. According to R&R, Borrell, which analyzed local revenue for 1,994 radio station Websites, projects 26 (%) percent growth for 2009, bringing the industry to $277 million in local online advertising. While radio trails newspaper, TV and Yellow pages in local online revenue, it now accounts for 3.4 (%) percent of radio and TV station gross revenues…
The BIA/Kelsey Group forecasts U.S. mobile search advertising revenues to grow from $39 million in 2008 to $2.3 billion by 2013, a compound annual growth rate of 125.6 (%) percent - just a bit higher than the interest you’re getting on your savings plan is my guess. “We anticipate a tenfold increase in the number of mobile Internet users during the forecast period - from 5.2 million in 2008 to 56.2 million in 2013,” says Neal Polachek, CEO of the BIA/Kelsey Group. “Broadcasters are very aware that new technology trends can help them compete better in today’s marketplace. The next step is to determine viable, effective go-to-market strategies that monetize their assets” says Anne Schelle, executive director, Open Mobile Video Coalition. Mobile’s role in media and Internet companies’ multi-platform business models will be explored by industry executives at BIA/Kelsey’s “Winning Media Strategies” conference to be held May 20 - 22…

Jack Kemp, who passed away on Saturday was hailed as one of the nation’s most distinguished public servants. He was also one of the American Football League’s premier quarterbacks, leading the Buffalo Bills to the 1964 and 1965 titles. In 1966 he was the league’s most valuable player. He played for 11 seasons and claimed that “pro football gave me a good perspective.
