This Classic World Series Will Be On Radio Too, Ya Know…

Unless you live west of the Mississippi, most of you will be home when the World Series starts tonight and there’s no substitute for watching the TV coverage, especially in high definition, but there will be radio coverage for all the games too. If you can’t watch the games (all starting after 8 ET) you can hear the network radio coverage on ESPN with Jon Miller and Joe Morgan handling the play-by-play. Additional coverage will be provided by XM Radio, MLB International and MLB.com. In Philadelphia and here in New York, the radio coverage will be on WPHT (1210) and WCBS (880) respectively.  But those are not the only stations that will be involved in pre and post-World Series coverage in both markets as the turnpike/cheesesteak-cheesecake battle begins…

Philly’s 97.5 The Fanatic and New York’s 1050 ESPN will pair Mike Missanelli and Michael Kay in a two-man show from the Dugout, a bar across the street from Yankee Stadium prior to the game. CBS stations WIP 610 Philly and The Fan 660 here will host a “Battle of the Broads” as in Broadway vs. Broad Street and WIP midday sports yakkers Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow will debate The Fan’s Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts from the Chickie’s & Pete’s in Bordentown (PA), near the imaginary demarcation line between North and South Jersey. WIP will be on the air from Greenwich Village (Yankee territory) tomorrow and Thursday and WIP’s Angelo Cataldi and his crew will be across the Borgata casino floor from Boomer & Carton from WFAN…

Both teams have power and pitching, making for a classic Fall Classic. Release the hounds and let the battle begin. For those looking for predictions, here’s mine: While both teams are evenly matched with both possessing the ability to score lots of runs and plenty of pitching, pitching will win out — it always does…
