(Veterans Day Edition)
When you look at radio’s Q3 report card it looks like we’ve reached Armageddon or 12-21-12. You have to hope that we haven’t flashed forward and seen doomsday. The lowest Q3 percentage drop was Salem Communications 10 percent — the highest? Beasley Broadcasting’s (gulp) 20.1% but it gets worse. Citadel Broadcasting has potential plans to file for bankruptcy. That potential term could change to imminentin less time than I had to write that. Can this horrible situation change in the near future or should you be backing up the UHaul for parts unknown???
Maybe, just maybe, we’re seeing more confidence displayed by accounts that are willing to stick a toe back into the water. In Nestle’s case, that water is the Earth’s water from Poland Springs spring sources in Maine. Poland Springs ad campaign will include radio, TV, online and print and will focus on the purity, taste and filtering process involved in the companies 6 spring water brands. Ads for Poland Springs began on November 2 and a campaign for Arrowhead and Deer Park markets started on Monday. Campaigns for the remaining brands (Ice Mountain, Ozark and Zephyrhills) are also underway…
Yesterday we noted that car companies have started to advertise again on radio — today it’s water. Can this be a sign that renewed confidence is starting to return to the market place???
