Here we go again. Another new plum media position, the name Mel Karmazin and a denial.
It happens every time, doesn’t it? This time the position doesn’t come any bigger — running NBC Universal once Comcast owns a majority of the struggling media giant. He already denied that he would accept a job as number two to Warren Buffett and that no amount of money could convince him to leave Sirius XM Radio. That Buffett mention is as believable as Bill Belichick saying that 4th and 2 on his own 28 was a good play. Karmazin told Neil Cavuto in a Fox News exclusive that he has no desire to run another large media company…
Always the showman, Karmazin sold his product in the Cavuto interview comparing his competition to an era where 8-track tapes were supposed to have been the end of terrestrial radio. Stating that Sirius XM realized trailing earnings of $2.5 billion a year. Karmazin went on to explain that the interview he was giving Cavuto was being listened to all over the country as it occurred on Sirius XM Radio and that the content available on Sirius XM Radio is much more than just music…
All that was missing in the interview was the Clash singing “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” in the background…
